Philanthropy has always played a crucial role in supporting the Johns Hopkins University’s mission of patient care, education, and research.
The original gift from our founder Johns Hopkins in 1873 was, at that time, the largest philanthropic bequest in U.S. history. It enabled our institution to be free of outside influences from both church and state, and it supported the creation of the climate of innovation for which we are known.
Gifts from our donors (people like you) continue to allow us to make significant original discoveries in the laboratory, to apply our results in the clinic, and to teach these to the best and the brightest.
Some people give money to Hopkins out of gratitude. Giving is their way of saying thank-you for the care they have received. Others give because they are frustrated that a cure or treatment regimen has not yet been identified. Whatever your reason, your gift, large or small, could support a specific initiative, enable us to purchase a piece of highly specialized equipment, or help a researcher create the next breakthrough. Gifts of any amount are welcomed.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins provides a full complement of specialties, including an expanded spine service, orthopaedic oncology, sports medicine, foot and ankle surgery, adult reconstructive surgery, trauma, pediatrics and hand surgery.
World-renowned faculty members provide diagnostic and therapeutic services appropriate to the management of congenital or acquired musculoskeletal malfunctions, malalignments, and defects of bones, joints, and associated structures.
Although government grants and reimbursements for patient care continue to support these research endeavors, such funds have been drastically reduced in today's economic and political environment. Financial support from patients and friends are necessary to maintain our tradition of medical excellence.
Thank-you so much for helping us to continue to be THE BEST!
