August, 2007 Congratulations to Richard Skolasky for completing his Sc.D. in Health Policy and Management from the Bloomberg School of Public Health. His dissertation analysed the determinants of functional recovery following low back surgery. This work was supported by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and is currently being prepared for manuscript submission. Richard’s research focuses on improving patient safety and outcomes through furthering knowledge and increasing the efficiency of spine care. Welcome to Kristin Archer, Ph.D, D.P.T., who is joining the Spine Outcomes Research Center this fall. And congratulations to Kristin and her husband on the arrival of a son in early September. May, 2007 Congratulations to Arabella Leet, M.D., for receiving the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America Outstanding Basic Scientific Paper award in May for her paper, "The Paradoxic Response of Human Osteoblasts in Patients with Osteogenesis Imperfecta to Alendronate".
